Q: When did you start creating?

Alejandra: Since I was little :-) I was always drawing and creating stories in my school notebooks.

Q: When did you realize that you should be a full-time artist?

Alejandra: A few years ago I quit a job that I enjoyed but had forgotten the essentials. Later, I dedicated myself full time, accepting all kinds of projects and being able to pay for my things for something that makes me happy to do, create.

Q: Did you study art?

Alejandra: I did! Visual Arts In Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia.

Q: What was your most precious project?

Alejandra:A few years ago I had an experience that changed my life, I was an au pair, I traveled to another country with a different language, people, and landscapes. In my free time, I drew, embroidered, and I also went a lot to a bookstore called Barnes and Noble, to look at books and I also sat in the cafe to draw people. On those visits, I always went to see an illustration magazine that always invites me to open it because of its incredible covers, it's called Illustoria. In 2021 I received the most exciting and biggest email of my entire life, and it was from Elizabeth Haidle, the editor of that magazine, she wanted me to illustrate an article. For some people, this may be a small step, for me, it was a dream come true, being in the magazine that I always looked forward to one day being there.

Q: Where do you find inspiration?

Alejandra: In the small details of my days, my city, the people, my plants, flowers, and music.

Q: Do you create in your home or atelier?

Alejandra: Both :)

Q: What is important to you in order to get ideas - or how do you relax?

Alejandra: To get ideas, I write things that happen to me in my days and then go back to those notes to help me create something from that. To relax, I embroider, walk, go to the botanical garden, lie down and watch a movie.
