SO.SLOW is a small company based in Slovakia producing handmade candles with a focus on ecological and sustainable principles. 

The founder of SO.SLOW Kristina wanted to establish a business which would achieve the highest criteria regarding sustainability. In order not to harm our planet, the selection of all ingredients and the mindful creation of lean operations lead to a whole 360 degree sustainability approach. 

“Sustainability is the prerequisite of every good product made nowadays. It is a must and not a nice-to-have marketing feature”, says Kristina, when asked about the importance of sustainably sourced ingredients.  

Not only the ecology, but also health considerations are a high priority. Therefore she uses only soya wax without any chemical conservations instead of paraffin. Paraffin is a side product of the oil production industry and by burning it in your rooms you are basically creating toxins you fully inhale for hours. 

The packaging of all items is always made of paper or recycled paper and even the fillers in the packages are made of paper too. This proves that in 2021 it is possible to send and ship even glas items through Europe without plastic and yet have no damages. 

In order to limit the amount of waste, SO.SLOW created a recycling programme for the collection of empty glas containers, which can be brought or sent back for a refill and either traded in for a discount.
